1. Information We Collect
When you browse the Site: no account is required to search or view entries. Standard web server logs (IP address, browser user agent, pages requested, timestamps) may be collected by our hosting provider for security and operational purposes.
When you submit a finding: we collect what you enter in the submission form — vehicle make/model/year, task type, your written description, any specs you provide, and an optional source URL. We also log your IP address at the time of submission, used only to enforce rate limits and detect abuse.
We do not currently collect account credentials, payment information, or precise location data.
2. How We Use Information
- To publish and display your submission on the Site (submissions are public by design)
- To detect and prevent spam/abuse of the submission form
- To operate, maintain, and improve the Site
- To comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information.
3. What’s Public vs. Private
Anything you enter into the submission form as part of your “finding” is displayed publicly. Do not include your name, email, or other personal information inside a submission’s text. Your IP address, logged separately for rate-limiting, is not published.
4. Data Retention
- Submission content is retained as long as it remains part of the Site’s index, subject to removal per our moderation policy or a valid legal/copyright request.
- IP addresses logged for rate-limiting are retained for [30 days / specify] and then deleted or aggregated.
5. Third-Party Links
The Site links to third-party sites (Reddit, forums, NHTSA, patent databases) with their own privacy practices we don’t control.
6. Children’s Privacy
The Site is not directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from children.
7. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you. Contact us at [CONTACT EMAIL].
8. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect submitted information, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time.
